A Word about our Grants

In an earlier post I mentioned that when the Administrative Council gave the go ahead on our project they requested that we pursue grants to help with the expenses.  We procured two significant grants.

  1. Community Block Grant – this grant comes through funds the city receives to help in projects to better the community.  We were notified some time ago that we would be the recipients of a $50,000 to go towards the renovation of the front half of the HOPE Center (annex).  As of this post we still have not received the grant as there is much red tape to go through.  In June the final contract should be approved by the City Council and then the funds will be released and we will be able to get to work on the renovation piece.
  2. Vucurevich Grant – as of this morning we were notified that our grant request of $72,000 has been approved.  This grant will be geared primarily to fund training of mentors and volunteers and to pay for two positions for the running of the HOPE Day Center.  We will be working with the Vucurevich staff in the implementation of these monies and our future direction.

I believe strongly that these two grant acquisitions are signs of God’s blessing on our ministry.  This does not mean that all of our expenses are covered.  We still need to pay off the building and we will need to pay for utilities and maintenance on the building.  We must also continue to acquire funding so we can maintain a strong future in the years to come.
