Lay Pastor Weekly 6-27-10

For This God, Our God forever and ever; He will be our guide Even to death.  Psalm 48:13

 I recommend reading Psalm 48.

 In 1641, a bright German youth, Georg Neumark, packed his few belongings and left home.  By hard work and frugality he has saved enough for his first year at the university.  He traveled with some merchants and they were robbed.  Georg lost everything except his prayer book and a few hidden coins.  His university hopes were dashed.  Just when he was near despair, pastor, Nicolaus Becker befriended him.  Becker helped him secure employment as a tutor.  That day Georg composed the hymn “If Thou But Suffer God to Guide Thee.”   It was a hymn of consolation.  He composed the hymn “to the honor of my beloved Lord.” 

 God Will Care and Preserve for His Own!!!

 My prayer for the week:
Dear Lord thank you for being with us during times of duress.  The Holy Spirit will comfort and warm our hearts during the storm.  We need to tread softly as we share God’s goodness with others. Thank you, Jesus for loving us.
