The chariots of God are twenty thousand, Even thousands of thousands, The Lord is among them…Psalm 68:17

 I recommend reading Psalm 68.

The Jubilee Singers from Fisk University sang at the Plymouth Church in Brooklyn. They were named after the biblical year in Leviticus 25 being the time of liberation for slaves. In 1872, gospel music publisher Biglow and Main hired a musician to record their timeless, authorless songs on paper.  Jubilee Songs Complete As Sung by the Jubilee Singers of Fisk University was published.  It was a milestone for gospel and popular music. It introduced the “Negro Spiritual” to America and the world. The African-American spiritual hymn “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” was a favorite.  Another favorite hymn was “Nobody Knows the Trouble I’ve Seen.”  These were Soulful plantation songs born of slavery and full of yearning.

 Steal Away to Jesus!!!

My prayer for the week:      Dear Lord, We pray for faith that brings assurance in leading us in our daily walk with You and the conviction to understand things not seen.  Lead us to serve You in ways that brings others to know Your goodness.  Help us to make magic out of everyday occurrences.  Amen
